Auto-Mapic

Hey, do you like my latest acquisition, courtesy of Mrs C and SheBay? It's a state of the art map system in a handy portable case which can call up any extract in a matter of a few seconds simply by pressing 2 buttons.

Oh, what do you mean GPS does that? This was state of the art back in the 60's............

...............and is a lot of fun.

  2. What buttons do you press for Truro? In the '60's it'll show up as a pasty factory and some clotted cows (for the clotted cream!) only reachable by tractor! Oh how things have changed! Now we're reachable mainly by caravan - don't get me started! Xxxx

  3. I suspect that this is one of the famed 'lost' wotsit maps. This shows all the petrol stations that sold wotsits (in orange). This is rare and definitley pre-dates 'Grab bags' and green fuel.

  4. I believe that the lines on it are not roads but in fact are simply places where Dick Turpin has ridden. Also there are places marked on where Mr Darcy has taken a turn. Not sure if I know what that means, but I don't think it has anything to do with roundabouts which didn't come along until the late 19th century (or summat)

  5. It was a thoughtful gift from his map-shredding missus! All roads go to Wales (there's lovely). And not a Golden Arches logo anywhere........
